Welcome to the Draper Center

In 1986, Timothy Draper recognized that the Rochester community was in need of a professional dance school – a place for students to receive a strong foundation in classical ballet while studying other forms of artistic dance. He founded what is now The Timothy M. Draper Center for Dance Education to meet that need.

The school prides itself on providing the highest level of classical ballet and dance while also adhering to a curriculum that teaches formation of character, and stresses standards of excellence applicable to all areas of life.

The Timothy M. Draper Center for Dance Education has approximately 150 students and offers a wide variety of programs in dance education; classical ballet, pointe, variations, modern and jazz. Many Draper graduates have joined notable professional companies including the New York City Ballet, the Joffrey Ballet and the American Ballet Theatre.

As the official training school for the Rochester City Ballet, Draper Center moved into its new space on University Avenue in March 2004. The newly renovated facility features five state of the art dance studios, spacious lounge areas for both students and parents and locker rooms for the dancers, complete with shower facilities.
